YEAR ROUND GOLF

Stay and Play year round golf in Anderson County, starting at $57 including 18 holes of golf with a cart and one night in a hotel.  The Most expensive package buys 90 holes of golf with cart and three nights in a hotel starting at $245.  The Stay and Play Golf  Promotion, now in its second year, brings golf vacationers to the area for fun, but also gives them an opportunity to sample it as a potential place to live.  It’s a partnership between the Anderson Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), six Anderson County golf courses and five hotels.

CVB Executive Director Glenn Brill stated, “We’re home to many great golf courses that offer challenges to golfers of all skill levels.  Our greens fees are lower than many other areas of the Palmetto State and the courses aren’t crowded so golfers can enjoy their round.”

Non-golfing family members and friends also have plenty to do.  They can fish or boat on Lake Hartwell, view three dozen waterfalls, take beautiful scenic drives, tour historic homes, follow the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor or take-in the South Carolina Botanical Garden.

Golf is a big business in South Carolina.  According to the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism 923,000 trips to our state included a round of golf in 2004.  These golfing visitors spent $900 million during their visit; $200 million at the golf course and $700 million at hotels, restaurants and other retail and entertainment venues.  Information on the packages is on-line at www.visitanderson.com/golf, or by calling the CVB at 877-282-4650.
